Master Study : Richard Schmid

I really like Richard Schmid. He's a genius of Alla Prima painting. I did this study of his painting, because this is the painting he listed with three progress versions. I had a hope to learn from it.

Another three hour painting. I hope someday I can paint without thinking that I suck so much. This is my third painting in 2010. And I am enjoying it so much that driving to Oakland and paying toll doesn't feel so bad. (but I'm always looking for somebody to go there from SF with me. Let me know!) I am very thankful to Seb for keeping the painting session going for so long. Will see you again in Aug!

It's been five years since I did my last oil painting. Oil paints even dried out and I had a hard time even getting the paint out from the tube. all in all, I didn't get lost, just needed more time on it. I'm going to try one more at Seb's soon. Painting is so much fun.
